Web design basics involve a plan, web platform, and projects. It includes discussing ideas, layout sketches, and selection of your content.
Make a Plan
Discuss your plan with the web design team. Set achievable goals and be open for learning technical terms. Items to discuss may include: brand, navigation, content writing, digital elements, custom coding and responsive design for different types of devices, whether desktop, tablet or smartphones. Learn about web terminology like: UI, UX, HTML, CSS, JS, PHP, HTTPS, favicon, open or closed systems, web hosting, web security, web monitoring, sitemaps and backup plans. The time you invest to research and plan will prepare you for the next step in your digital project.
Select a Platform
Review the various web platforms available with your webmaster. Most platforms will have web builder tools. These tools help you build the structure for your layout of each page. At this point, you are ready to start placing your digital elements into your web project.
Build the Projects
When creating digital projects make sure you set small goals at first. Break down the projects into smaller parts. Remember you are developing digital assets that can be used in your web platform, business cards, brochures or even tradeshow projects. It can feel like quite a conundrum or puzzle when learning, designing and developing all the digital elements for a project, so take it slow and pace yourself. We look at building any digital project or website like building a house, or writing a book. It takes lots of decisions and time to compile all the details to complete your final product. A final product can be a website, a digital file for print, or even a presentation.
